Pinot Noir 2022
A refined expression of South Africa’s cool-climate Pinot Noir, crafted with elegance and finesse.

Terroir & Winemaking
Sourced from a single vineyard on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, this Pinot Noir is shaped by its cool coastal proximity and stony, clay-rich Bokkeveld shale soils. Nestled behind the seaside town of Hermanus and overlooking the South Atlantic, the vineyard enjoys a gentle maritime influence, resulting in slow ripening, fruit purity, and a naturally elegant structure.

Grapes are hand-harvested in the early morning to protect the fruit and preserve natural freshness. Pre-sorting takes place in the vineyard, followed by meticulous hand selection in the cellar. 100% whole-berry fermentation in small open-top fermenters ensures gentle extraction and the preservation of vibrant aromatics and silky, well-integrated tannins.

Fermented using wild yeasts, the wine undergoes 24 months of ageing in a combination of new and second-fill Burgundian oak barrels, adding subtle layers of complexity while maintaining the integrity of the fruit.

Tasting Notes
This Pinot Noir bursts with bright cherry and floral perfumed fruit notes, hints of earth and spice adding complexity. Firm tannins support the wine’s fresh, fruit-forward character, while a lingering salinity teases the taste buds.
